It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Arthur Floyd Stewart, aged 83 years of Red Point, PE, announce his passing at the Souris Hospital on September 25, 2022. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years Anne (nee Young) and will be forever loved and missed by his children David (Jacinta), Susan and Andrea. He was a very proud and loving “Bubbie” to his grandchildren Madelyn, Josh (Jayne), Meghan, Jordan (Morgan), Alyson and Mallory and great grandchild Karter.
Arthur is survived by his sister Karolyn Jones and brother Glen; sisters-in-law Joan (nee Tomlinson) and Nora (nee MacDonald); and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Nelson and Helen (nee MacLean); parents-in-law Foster and Enid (nee MacDonald) Young; siblings Jean Coffin, Eldon and Ira; brothers-in-law Preston Coffin, Forbes Young (and wife Emma) and Edward Jones; sister-in-law Barbara (nee Pike); niece Carol Giles (nee Stewart) and nephew Dean Stewart.
He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and great sense of humour. Arthur was a founding and long-term member of the Friends of Elmira Board of Directors. A farmer, fisherman, builder and general jack of all trades, he never hesitated to support his community and lend a hand. He was also an unwavering and devoted Toronto Maple Leaf fan. He had a great love for his family, both near and far and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to acknowledge the special care and endless compassion given by Dr. Craig Malone and the nurses and staff of the Souris Hospital.
Resting at the Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 4-7pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Kingsboro Baptist Church on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1pm. A private interment will be held for family at Kingsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Arthur can be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation (Souris Hospital).
