Obituary of Arnold Rudolph Schroeder
Arnold Rudolph Schroeder, 88 years, of Ottawa Ontario, passed away peacefully at Longfields Manor with family by his side on Friday June 17, 2022.
Arnold was born in Ladysmith, Quebec. He grew up on the family farm and moved to Ottawa to work in 1956.
He worked at OC Transpo as a bus driver for 33 years and enjoyed 27 years of retirement. He was a long time member of All Saints Lutheran Church.
Arnold enjoyed spending time at the cottage in the summer and loved travelling to Florida for the warmer weather in the winter. He enjoyed relaxing by going fishing and spending his time tinkering, taking things apart and making them better.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife Doris (nee Johnston) of 59 years. Cherished father of Valerie (Martin) and brother to Herbert (Doreen). Proud and loving grandfather to Makenzie Petersen. Predeceased by his daughter Melanie (Glenn) and his sister Hertha Rueckwald (the late Wilbert).
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Gardenview Staff at Longfields Manor for the excellent care they gave to Arnold.
Arnold will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, on Friday June 24, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Doug Kranz. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
