Archibald (Archie) Laurence Walsh
Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Archie Walsh on August 10,
2022 in Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford, NS on
August 1, 1935, he was the son of Jack Walsh and Vera Lamb.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lynda (nee Mountain), his children Michael
(Darlene), Yvonne, Larry (Mimi), Archie Douglas, Timmy Patrick, his sisters Eileen Murphy
(Cecil), Jacqueline Mackie (Peter), Mary Liz Mossop, Joanne MacQueen, Lucy Kennedy
(Robert), and his brother Danny (Sue). He was a loving grandfather to Alexandre, Justin,
Samantha, Becky, Janie and great grand daughter Kylie and his many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Annie Bernice, brother Mickey, sister Rosey, Roseanne
Walsh, brother-in-law Bobby, and mother-in-law Rita Mountain, his son-in-law Jim Dola, and
brothers-in-law Stewart Mossop, Carson Ferdinand, Dennis Flawn and Junior MacQueen.
Archie was raised by Nick and Eleanor Epifano (deceased) to whom he was forever grateful.
Archie served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked for
the Federal Government as a Parole Officer for 25 years, was a member of the Knights of
Columbus 4 th Degree Knight, Council 9476. Archie sang in the Knights of Columbus Choir
and was a member of Friends with Bill W. for 57 years.
Archie and Lynda lived in Ontario for many years but were drawn back to his Cape Breton
roots but for those who knew him, he made no secret of his desire for a much warmer climate
in Florida which they both loved and spent many a winter there as snowbirds. At many
gatherings of family and friends you could always count on Archie’s beautiful, melodic voice
for many a tune, especially everyone’s favorite, ‘A Mother’s Love’.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima
Church, 1452 Kings Road, Sydney on September 7 th at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in
the church basement.
Memorial donations may be made in Archie’s name to the Cape Breton Regional Palliative
Care Unit or a charity of your choice.
