Our dear mom and oma, went to be with her Lord & Saviour, Thursday evening November 3, 2022. Ann was born on January 2, 1933, in de Tijnje, The Netherlands to Reint and Jantje Smit. She was the second youngest of 11 and the last of the family to survive. Ann was a woman of much strength, courage, and determination and immigrated to Canada by herself in 1959. Landing in Edmonton, before continuing West to Vancouver Island where she stayed. Marrying John Henry Wikkerink on December 08, 1961, they began their dairy farming life together and had their 3 children in Shawnigan Lake before moving to Cobble Hill where the farm continues today.
Ann was a very talented woman creating masterpieces of sewing, embroideries, knitting projects and up until recently numerous pairs of socks. She enjoyed coffee time visits and loved the family gatherings and visitors that came into her home. Ann had a deep and sincere love for her children, grandchildren and friends. She gave the strongest hugs and a listening ear to their stories right to the end of her life.
Special thanks to the wonderful, patient staff at Cerwydden Care Home, for your friendship and loving care these past 2 years. Remember her love. Give each other high fives while sharing smiles and a coffee.
Ann is survived by Wayne (Lisa), Justin, Dawson, Joseph, David; Ridley (Karen) Amy, Izzy, Joel, Lauren, Tak; Joan (Brad) Logan and Olivia. Predeceased by her husband John April 6, 2021.
