Obituary of Anthony Welgan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Welgan on March 8, 2022 in his 91st year. He passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Marianna, his son Michael (Lisa) and daughter Theresa(Chris). Dear Dziadzi to Melinda, Anna, Ethan and Sean. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tony is predeceased by his parents Paul and Anna Welgan, his brothers Joseph(Wanda)and Michael(Irene) and sister Vera. Tony was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on August 30, 1931. He moved with his family to St.Catharines in the late 1930’s. He worked at Welgan’s Television for 32 years and retired from the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1996. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, going to polka dances and listening to polka music. He was a lifetime member of the Canadian Polish Society. We would like to express our special thanks to the staff at Tabor Manor and all the doctors and nursing staff at Niagara Health (St. Catharines site) for their kind and compassionate care. Family will receive friends at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. on Monday March 14 between 2 and 4pm. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday March 15 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St. Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MS Society.

    a father, husband, grandfather to so many. Very sad to hear Michael
    and I want you to know that you are in my thoughts at this most
    difficult time. He is now at peace. Be comforted in knowing that
    he is with God. Trust in His word. Rest in Peace.
