Obituary of Anthony Joseph Marinelli
Passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022 after a battle with cancer with his wife and family by his side. Beloved husband of Cindy (née Lukacs). Tony is survived by his brother Alfred (Jackie), his sister Lena Peyton (Cal) and by his brother in-law Tim Lukacs (Sherrie). Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Camillo and Rosina Marinelli and brother Albert and wife Ethel.
Tony graduated from Ryerson Polytech in 1969 after studying Financial Management. He lived and worked in Toronto and Hamilton for a number of years before deciding to move back to the Niagara area. After accepting a position as a Training Manager with the Beckers Milk Company he was instrumental in bringing Beckers stores to Niagara Falls, Welland and Port Colborne. He then had his own store on Kent Street in Port Colborne. After getting married, Tony decided to change career paths and began work at John Deere Welland Works in Dain City, retiring when the plant closed. During plant layoffs over the years, he also worked at Al Slattery Ford, Farr Learn Motors and opened his own take out restaurants in Welland- Mr. Tony’s Takeout. In his spare time Tony enjoyed gardening, golfing, traveling, socializing and following the stock market. Boating at Marlon Marina was one of his favourite past times for a number of years. In the past he enjoyed helping out when able with Port Colborne Conservation Club Fishing tournaments. He cherished family meals with Jackie’s roast beef, Lean’s turkey’s and Sharon’s gnocchi.
At Anthony’s request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. A burial and celebration of his life will take place in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society.
Cremation
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of his life in the spring.
