On September 21 2022, Tony suddenly passed away peacefully in his sleep at his new home in the Okanagan, after a long battle with IPF (idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) & a recent diagnoses of lung cancer earlier this year. At the age of 64. Tony was so happy to have moved at the end of August to spend his remaining weeks with his daughter, son in law and, their family.
Tony was survived by daughter, Chelsea (Rob); mother, Joan Catton; brother, Paul (Julie), brother Robert (Ruth); sister, Linda (Aaron); nephews, Tyler & Sam; step-brother, Howard; step-sister, Julie and step-niece, Jessica. Tony was predeceased by his father, Alan Elsworth.
Tony was born in Leeds, England he and the family moved to Canada in 1965. They moved to Burnaby first for a few years and then to North Delta where they finished schooling. This is where he met his first wife, Danica Nikola, they were married July 25, 1981. On November 12, 1986, they welcomed their only daughter Chelsea.
Tony spent 25+ years as a long-haul truck driver, in 2018 he became a class one driving instructor with Valley Driving School. He loved being an instructor, he took such pride in showing people and teaching his students his lifelong skills. He gained a whole family with Valley and some great friendships here.
A few years ago, Tony got to take the trip of a lifetime and go back to England with one of his oldest and best friends. They visited their childhood homes together. They even took a train to Paris to visit some other friends they grew up with. He absolutely loved sharing the pictures and, story s of this trip with everyone.
Tony’s optimism, Jokes, charm, laughter and love will be forever missed by many. Gone far too soon but, he will forever be in our hearts.
