In Celebration of
Anna Jane Gilchrist
June 22, 1942 –
October 9, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Jane Gilchrist on Sunday October 9, 2022, with her family by her side. Predeceased by her father and mother, Errick and Louise Willis and brothers Dick and Skip Willis; beloved wife of Jim, mother of Stacy, Libby (Colin) and Kate (Jamie), adoring Nana to Conor, Oliver and Louis.
Our AJ leaves with us an enduring legacy. Her compassion and care for others was unmatched as was her positive outlook and wisdom in knowing what matters most – family and friends. She was a gracious and grounded inspiration to friends everywhere. She will be remembered for her warm and inclusive nature, love and kindness for everyone, generosity of spirit and unique knack for making everyone feel welcome and loved.
In addition to family and friends, her contribution to the community was immeasurable, with leadership positions on countless boards of charitable organizations. Her impact was felt in the lives of so many. She was quite simply the best person we knew.
The family will receive friends at Turner & Porter, 2357 Bloor Street West from 6-9 on Tuesday October 18. A memorial service will take place at St. George’s on the Hill at 11:30am on Wednesday October 19. In lieu of flowers donations in AJ’s memory can be made to L’Arche Toronto, 186 Floyd Avenue, Toronto, ON. www.Larchetoronto.org

Death notice for the town of: Toronto, Province: Ontario
My deepest sympathies to Jim, Stacy, Kate, and Libby. Anna Jane’s generous, welcoming spirit will be greatly missed. I’ll always remember bonding with AJ over her tomato aspic during Christmas dinner. Love to you all
For the past 26 years, the Gilchrists welcomed our family every Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter. And at the head of the table (and the heart of the party) was AJ. It wasn’t a holiday without the Gilchrists. AJ was wise and had a gentle way of sharing her knowledge. She was always interested in others and shared her observations with humour and insight. AJ knew what was really important in life and made everyone feel at ease and welcome. What a generous, giving and gracious friend to three generations of our family.
