Dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Antonia Adriana (Ann) Vermeulen passed away in the comfort of her home on March 13, 2022 in her 90th year. In March 1953, Ann emigrated to Canada to be with her fiancé (Fred). They were married 68 years and shared many adventures with family and friends camping, canoeing, hiking, playing tennis and sailing to name a few. Mom was a great cook and baker and was talented with many homemaking and handwork skills. Her favourite hymn was “How Great Though Art” and her favourite band was ABBA. Ann is survived by her husband Fred, children Nina (Darwin), Fred (Mary Jo), Lia (Jim); grandchildren Nick (Sherry), Leah, Matt, Alex (Scott), Kees (Jess), Jim (Lydia), Mike; great grandchildren Justin, Sebastian, Lucas and sister Audrey Pieters. Ann is survived by a large family of Vermeulen’s in Canada, and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and their children of the extended van Houwelingen family in the Netherlands. Visitations Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755). Service at Ebenezer Reformed Church, 621 Highway #8, Stoney Creek at 1:30 pm on Monday, March 21, 2022, coffee reception to follow. An interment will take place at a later date with immediate family. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
