LaBERGE, Ann Marie (nee Durkin)
Ann LaBerge passed away peaceful at Heart of Hastings Hospice, Madoc, surrounded by her children on June 15th, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband Clarence LaBerge, parents William and Mary (Mackey) Durkin, her sister Catharine and brother Owen. Remembered by her children. Laura (Kevin) Heath, Lisa (Daniel) Alberta, Robert (Lauren) LaBerge, her grandchildren Brayden, David, Matthew, Jonah, Christopher, Tyler, and Juliana, and her siblings Ed (Jayne) Durkin, Pat (Tom) Dowling, Joan (Doug) Bennett, and Ross (Lori) Durkin and many nieces and nephews.
Ann worked proudly as a teacher for the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board for 35 years; teaching many students in Belleville, Read, Marmora, and Tweed. Her family remembers her for her unconditional love, unwavering faith, and that she saw good everywhere. She was so invested in everything she did – if she made you feel important or special it was because, in her eyes, you were. She was a caretaker who was constantly worried about the needs of others, and she actively looked for ways to help.
Many thanks to all who have reached out in the past months. Your visits, phone calls, flowers and food offerings meant the world to her. Thank you to our friends / colleagues in the medical health field especially her palliative care nurse Katelyn Englander, Dr Laura Pickett, Dr Kris Dennis, Dr Anna Adamiak, Dr Nick Schieda and oncologist Dr. Jana Kankasen. Your commitment to care speaks volumes about who you are especially in a climate where we know you are already taxed.
A special thanks to Dr. Mustard and the Gateway health team who called and visited regularly and went above and beyond, not only for our mother, but for our whole family. Dr Catherine Link you are a gift. We will never be able to express to you what you mean to our family. In a world that is desperately in need of caretakers you both set the
standard for what that means personally and professionally.
What a gift we were given when God allowed us to know Ann’s abundant love. In remembering her, let us follow her example and share that type of great love with everyone we encounter on our journey.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the McCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 137 Colborne St, Tweed, on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
