Our Angel on earth has now gained her heavenly wings. We will miss her immensely, but we will remember now how blessed we were to have shared all life’s precious moments with her.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Anita O’Keefe Power passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on September 19th, 2022, at the age of 83. Mom was predeceased by her parents Albert and Molly O’Keefe, her loving husband Walter (2012), and members of the O’Keefe and Power families, especially brother-in-law Charles O’Brien, Gerard (Genevieve) Power, sister-in-law Josephine O’Rielly (John), father and mother-in-law Alphonsus and Mary Power.
Leaving to mourn her loving memories are her children Michelle (Darren), Maureen (Barry), Walter (Alaine), special daughter Martha (Jimmy, Joshua & Kianna). Also leaving her devoted grandchildren, whom were her whole life, Tyler (Melanie), Jessica (Dan), Ryan (Erin), and Christa. Her sisters Lucy O’Brien (Ronnie White), Alice Walsh (Mike), numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by special friends Annie Power, Zita Dunphy, Perry O’Keefe, and all her friends and care takers at Alderwood Estates. Thank you to all the staff at 7 East St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, especially Dr. Diaz, management and staff at Alderwood, and Bay Bulls Family Practice, especially Dr. Rod McCarthy.
Mom loved life and never had a bad bone in her body, she loved meeting people, music, and most of all family. Throughout all her life family and relationships remained the utmost importance to her.
Visitation to take place at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Wednesday, September 21 from 2pm – 9pm.
Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s RC Church, Witless Bay, Thursday, September 22 at 10 am. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Tors Cove. Reception to celebrate mom’s life will be held following burial at Tors Cove Hall.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Anita’s Memory can be made to Tors Cove Hall which she loved to go to Bingo, play darts, did many concerts, attended many garden parties, and helped at any event that she could.
