Angus Mary Findlay 2022

Angus, Mary Findlay
Mary Angus (nee Wilkinson) passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, peacefully in her home in Thornbury, with her family by her side.
Mary loved to spend time with her children Michael (Felicia) Tom, Jane, Claire (Mark Caplan) and grandchildren, Aidan, Effie, Mason, Cache, Payton, Molly, James, Wilkinson, Findlay, Tillie, Max and Angus, and of course her beloved sisters Helen (Bruce Mairs) and Bette (George Marshall).
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Peter Angus and spent the six years of her time without Peter living her life to the fullest.
Mary was interested in everyone she met and was a loyal friend to all. An avid reader, Mary loved to share her books and add them to the cottage bookshelf. She was a regular at the Thornbury library and was a founding member of the Georgian Triangle Lifelong Learning Institute.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1932, Mary and her family then moved to Larder Lake, before eventually ending up on Roxborough Drive in Toronto. Mary formed many lifelong friendships during her time as a student at Branksome Hall, and later at Toronto General Hospital while training to be a nurse. Known for her unbounding energy, she remained an active alumni in both, organizing reunions and bringing her community together. Mary was physically active her whole life; she was a swim teacher and life guard, loved sailing and canoe tripping, skied, golfed, was a dedicated bridge and cribbage player and was an avid walker where few could keep up with her. Mary loved her time at camp Northway Lodge in Algonquin Park as the head of waterfront. She passed this love of Algonquin Park on to her children and grandchildren and created many wonderful memories for her family, including her nieces and nephews, at the cottages on Cache Lake. Mary was a volunteer extraordinaire, everyone could count on her support, and she did so with enthusiasm and endless energy. Mary was never afraid of change and made every home a wonderful place to be, starting in Maple, heading to Vancouver, Burlington, Woodbridge, and the farm in Beaver Valley before finally settling in Thornbury. She will be missed enormously now that she has made her final move but the memories, she created will always be with us.
Please join Mary’s family in celebrating her life on December 27, 2022 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Far Hills Clubhouse, 200 Beaver Street South, Thornbury (across the street from 27 Beaver Street South).
