We are very saddened by the loss of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Angelo Marino Pacheco Borges, 87, who died on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022, at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga after suffering a stroke on March 31st, 2022.
Angelo was born on October 2nd, 1934 in San Miguel Acores to Antonio Borges Da Silva and Maria da Conceicao Pacheco. Angelo was married to Maria da Conceicao De Melo Ferreira Borges (deceased) and is survived by his three children Angela and her husband George Borges, Dina and her husband Rui Santos and Roger Borges. He was blessed with 6 grand-children Daniel, Christopher, Andrew, Marcus, Zachary (deceased) and Calista. He was also blessed with 3 great-grand-children Emma, Joshua and Dominic.
Angelo was a medic in the army and trained as a stone mason in Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in May 1960 and worked on the railroad in Sioux Lookout, Ontario until moving to Toronto in August 1964, where he lived for most of his life. He worked for Hydro as a custodian for more than 20 years and retired in 1993. He was very proud of being a Canadian and embraced this country for his own.
Angelo and his wife Conceicao helped sponsor many family members to join them in Canada and opened their home to whomever needed shelter. Angelo was a kind hearted man who would give you the shirt off of his back and never ask for anything in return.
Family meant everything to Angelo and when he retired in 1993 at 59 he did it so that he could spend more time helping to raise his grandsons. His loving, caring and compassionate manner has shaped all of his grand-children in very positive ways and they will miss him dearly.
May you be reunited with the love of your life once again in heaven and may God grant you eternal peace. You were our hero and you are forever in our hearts.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Dying with Dignity Canada in memory of Angelo Borges in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family.
