It is with deep sorrow that Andrew Ernest Lorenz was suddenly taken away from us on June 30, 2022 in a tragic car accident. Andrew was only 29 years old. He will be dearly missed by his mother Dawna Mercier (her husband Vern Toews) and Andrew’s very large loving extended family, including his half-sisters Kaitlyn (Robert) and Kristyn (Kyle), and his step-siblings; Doug (Kari), John (Natalie), Collin (Rachel), Kierstin (Mathew), Sheena (Trent) and Apollos. He is also survived by his grandmas Anne Cardinal and Kathy Lorenz, as well as his step-father Barry Morgan and grandma Mary Morgan, and step-grandparents Ben and Nettie Toews. Andrew is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all loved him very much.
Andrew was born on a cold and snowy December 17, 1992. He was predeceased by his father Raymond Lorenz in 1994. He was also predeceased by his grandfathers Wally Lorenz, Art Morgan, Al Tichonuk and Vic Cardinal.
Andrew went to school at Vimy Ridge Academy in Edmonton where he was the lead tip of the Pipe and Drum Band. Andrew was also an Air Cadet where he became the Band Drum Major and Chief Warrant Officer, as well as achieving numerous awards. Andrew loved music, going to concerts and was an avid drummer and guitar player. He had compassion for all living things and had many pets in his life including dogs, cats, fish, lizards and even snakes. He loved to go camping and hiking through nature. Andrew went to Emergency Services Academy in Vermillion for Fire Fighter school and to NAIT for his EME and EMT Paramedic training. He spent most of his short working life as an EMT as he loved helping people. He most recently worked for Mayerthorpe Associated Ambulance Service, but it was hard on him.
Andrew Lorenz’s Celebration of Life service will be held on July 12, 2022 at 7 pm at Connelly-McKinley funeral home located at 9 Muir Dr, St. Albert, Alberta.
Donations may be made in Andrew’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association Alberta Division so they can continue their work with first responder PTSD.
