Obituary of Amanda Wilmot
Amanda H. Wilmot was born in Lost River, Saskatchewan in November, 1931 to Cornelius and Sara Peters. She passed away peacefully at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, SK.
Amanda grew up in the Lost River district and went to Newfield School. She completed grade 10 and later worked in stores in Codette and Nipawin. In 1952, she moved to Saskatoon where she continued to work as well as attend Saskatoon Business College. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Gordon Wilmot and as she wrote in the Lost River History Book, “I returned to the land” making her home on the farm at Garrick. She fully participated in the farming operation from milking cows, driving tractor and combine, to hauling grain, growing a large garden, etc. She also worked part time in the store in Garrick and later in the MLA’s office in Nipawin for 6 years. She loved to curl as was evident of the many trophies in her home. She also managed to fit in time to complete her graded 11 and 12 through GED program and joined the Wapiti Valley Toastmasters Club. Under the toastmasters program, she became confident as a public speaker and won the Division B humorous speech contest in Saskatoon. She also judged speaking contests, gave eulogies, and filled in for church services under the Torch River Pastoral Charge when called on. She also volunteered with many community projects, especially the Nipawin Oasis Centre. Later, when things were a little less busy, she joined an Artist group and produced several beautiful paintings and joined the White Fox senior’s group which she continued to attend after moving into her condo in Nipawin. Although Amanda & Gordon had no children, her home was always open to any child that wanted to visit for a day or stay longer for a sleep over.
Amanda was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her parents Cornelius and Sara Peters; her brother, Harry.
She is survived by her special cousins Ed Schroeder and Terri Boechler; her sister-in-law, Laura and husband; her sister-in-law Shirley; her brother-in-law, Bill; her nephew, Erik (Taryn) Wilmot; her nieces: Jillian (Kevin) Murphy, Allisson Ens and family, Gwen Nickel and family, Virginia (Morgan) Kelln and family; plus many cousins and friends.
Amanda will be missed by all who knew her.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Amanda
