formerly of St. Francis Harbour, Guysborough County. It is with great
sadness, the family of Alton Carr announces his passing on Tuesday,

Alton was born in St. Francis Harbour on April 10, 1936: he
was a son of the late Bill and Theresa (Davidson) Carr. He was the
loving husband of 54 years to Edith (White) and father to Debi
(Blaise) Purcell, Ontario; Denise (Stephen) Morrow, Pomquet; Darren
(Sharlene McNutt) Carr, Truro; and Donna (Howard) Carr, St. Andrews;
and adoring grandfather to Ryan, Emily, Connor, Renee, Owen, Jordan,
Dylan, Liam and Weston and a great-grandchild who he never got to hold
in his arms. Alton was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Theresa
Carr; sisters, Alice (James) Grady, Florence (Ralph) Howden and
brother, Charlie (Myrtle). He was the last surviving member of his
family.
Alton was a truck driver for 45 years, mostly with Seaboard
Transport and Ocean Paving. He was a hard worker and took pride in all
he did. He was a devoted family man, loving father and husband, and
lived his life for them.
He loved working out in his little shop when time permitted.
He was an active member of his parish in St. Francis Harbour, where he
took great pride working the grounds around the church and hall, as
well as participating in events of the parish. He enjoyed a good game
of cards, a cold beer and family and friends.
We wish to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the
RK MacDonald Nursing Home for their loving care of Alton. A special
thank you to his nephew, Danny Grady for being supportive of Alton
over the years and always there when he needed a hand.
