Alma Mary (Gillingham) Parsons
October 31, 1931 – July 21, 2022
Alma Mary (Gillingham) Parsons passed into the presence of Jesus on Thursday night, July 21, 2022 at the age of 90 years. She was born in 1931 on Sop’s Island where she grew up with her two older sisters, Dora Bell & Stella & younger brother Randolph, who all have predeceased her. She met and married Jake (Jacob) who predeceased her in 1983. He was a school teacher from Bell Island. His teaching career took them to live in several communities on the Island.
She was the loving mother of four children whom she adored and they in turn loved her deeply. She did everything in her power to do what she could for all of them, her kindness knew no bounds. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her tenderly, she had millions of hugs and kisses for them all. Her nephews and nieces cherished her and enjoyed her fun loving nature.
During the first few years of her married life her focus was in the home. As time passed she was very involved in her church and became one of the most socially loved persons in her community. Her smile and personality included everyone in her space and if a child was in her sight that’s where you would see our mother shine.
Left to mourn Norma (Dale),(predeceased by son-in-law Gilbert); grandchildren Peter and Tim; Garry (Joan); grandchildren Janet and Colleen; Denise (Gus); grandchildren Sheldon and Crystal; Terry (Diane); grandchildren Jamie and Michelle and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24 from the hours 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Summerside.
There will be a service for those who would like to say their last good bye to Alma on Monday, July 25 at 3:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Summerside with Rev. Dcn. Karen Loder officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Summerside. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church Memorial Fund.
