Obituary
Alma Pennycook (nee Timms) of Glenboro, MB, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Glenboro Personal Care Home on Monday April 25, 2022 at the age of 100. Alma was born May 20, 1921 in Oakville, MB.
Alma leaves to mourn her passing son Ken (Betty) Lalonde of Glenboro, step daughter-in-law Gail Pennycook of Brandon, MB, grandchildren Connie (Armand) of Ninette, MB, Victoria (Joerg) of Stonewall, MB, Al (Heather) of Florida; step grandchildren Kim (Justin) of Brandon, MB, and Corey of Brandon, MB, as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Alma was predeceased by her first husband Joe Lalonde (1962), second husband Andrew Pennycook (1992), stepsons Bob (2006) and Brad (2020) and by sister Betty Alexander and brother Bill Timms.
Alma worked for 22 years at the Glenboro Hospital in the dietary department. She was active in the community, belonging to the Glenboro Ladies Legion Auxiliary and the Patricia Ladies Aid for many years until both were disbanded. She loved going to the Raystone Centre to play cards, 500 & Whist were her favorites.
Alma made the best buns and cinnamon buns around. The grandchildren enjoyed all the ice cream floats she made for them. She loved to have that “dash of salt in her beer”!
She was a very generous person and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Alma enjoyed many trips with her sister Betty, especially the ones to Las Vegas. She loved to play Bingo and to go to the casino. Alma will be greatly missed by family & friends.
A private family graveside service will take place in the Glenboro Cemetery on Monday June 20, 2022 with Sharon Hamilton officiating.
