Alma Lucille Bricker Clarkson 2022

Alma Lucille Bricker (Clarkson) passed away peacefully the morning of January 16th, 2022, at the age of 94 years at the Citadel Long Term Care Center in St. Albert, Alberta.
Mom lead a great life characterized by integrity, honesty, and kindness.
Alma was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta in 1927 and later in her early life the Clarkson family moved to Grenfell, Saskatchewan where she met Scott Kerr Bricker. Story goes that Scott saw Alma across a skating rink and he turned to his brother Cal and stated he was going to marry her. True to his word once Scott returned from WW II they married. Their military marriage took them to various countries: Germany and Africa and within Canada, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta. Alma embraced all the places that we lived but none more so then when Dad retired from military service in Edmonton and took up civil service with the Province of Alberta. St. Albert would be where Mom and Dad established long term roots within the community and with their extended family who were dear to them. Mom volunteered for St. Albert Meals on Meals for over 40+ years along with her devotion to the St. Albert United Church and the UCW is also 40 +years. Friendship was very dear to Mom and she had an amazing circle of friends though out her life wherever she lived.
Mom lived for family and any Hallmark occasion where her talents could be highlighted. Not sure if Mom was more excited about the UCW Holiday Auction that happened every November or our family Christmas. Every November our home would be filled with countless lemon meringue pies, millionaire squares, quilted turkey centre pieces, tooth fairy dolls, along with knitted angels and naivety scenes to sell at the UCW auction. Mom was very talented when it came to baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting.
Mom adored going for lunch with friends and family. She also loved doing her crossword puzzles every morning in the Edmonton Journal and spending her evenings challenging contestants on Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
She leaves behind her children, Debra, Scott Jr., and Sandra (Brent) along with her grandchildren (Brontë and Lachlan) as well as her sisters, Elizabeth and Donna, and numerous nieces and nephews. We were always aware that we had a great person to oversee our upbringing and who kept our manners in check, knew how to serve proper tea, the importance of Sunday dinners and, like Dad, the importance of family.
Thank you to the Elk Island staff at the Citadel for their amazing compassion and attention to our Mom. You are truly heroes to us. Thank you to Aunt Donna for your countless visits to Mom during the past few years as they meant the world to her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Edmonton Meals on Wheels and St. Albert United Church.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Alma Lucille Bricker Clarkson 2022..
