Obituary
Passed peacefully away with her family by her side at the Health Sciences Centre early on June 27, 2022, Alma Higdon of Islington (formerly of Whiteway), aged 72 years.
Alma was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Hayward Legge; her parents-in-law, Ester and Harold Higdon; brother, Hayward Legge; nephew, Brian Legge; and a number of brothers-in- law.
Leaving to mourn with cherished and loving memories are her loving husband of 48 years, Don; son, Chris (Susan) and daughter, Joanne (Allan); grandchildren, Sarah, Jack, Nathan, and Ryan; sisters, Ada, Phyllis (Ray), Marion, Patricia, Shirley (Willoughby), and Rhoda; and brother, Ron. She will also be remembered by a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alma worked as an LPN for 25 years, most of those at the Interfaith Home in Corner Brook, where she made many lifelong friends.
Known to four wonderful children as ‘Nanny’, she took great pleasure in spending time with, and talking about her grandchildren – she could often be heard exclaiming “God love ’em” with a proud smile that lit up a room.
She was happy to accompany Don on many hunting, fishing, and camping trips throughout the years. She was always happy to come along, and together they made many lasting memories and friendships.
Our family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and other professionals who cared for her during her short stay in hospital. We are especially thankful for the compassion of those nurses who cared for her in her final hours – your kindness will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo.
