Allison MacLeod
1937-2022
Allison Roy MacLeod. We, the family of Allison MacLeod,
announce his peaceful passing after a brief illness on Wednesday,
November 23, 2022, at the age of 85.
Dad was born in New Glasgow (Greenwood) and, at the young age
of 17, began his career with C.N. in the Stellarton Railyard. Shortly
after that, he followed his older brother Gordon (Wedgie) to North
Sydney where he worked for 34 years with CN Marine/Marine Atlantic. It
was there that he married our Mom, raised his children and made many
lasting friendships which included summer camping with his family and
hunting trips to the cabin in Margaree with the boys. Fishing and
bowling were among some of his hobbies, but his favorite was golfing.
Dad was an avid golfer and member at Seaview and later Abercrombie
Golf Clubs for many years.
He is survived by his children, Janet (John), and Murray
(Marylou). He is also survived by his beautiful granddaughters, Erica
(Peter) and Leah. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Gordon,
Muriel, Marilyn, David (Shirley) and Diane (Neville). He is also
survived by his brother-in-law, Wilson White and many nieces and
nephews. He will forever be missed by his feline princess,
Callie.
He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel, sister-in-law, Lois
MacLeod and brother-in-law, Jimmy Himmelman.
We would like to thank the staff on the 4th and 5th floors at
the Aberdeen Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to
our father. A special thanks to Dr. Rivera for all the years of
exceptional care.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service
will be held 2pm Sunday, November 27, at the Little Harbour
Presbyterian Church, Little Harbour, followed by a reception in the
Church Hall. Burial will take place in the Church Brook Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church Brook Cemetery or a
charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the
direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Allison MacLeod 19372022..
