It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Allan Young at home with his true love, Ronelda (MacMullin) Young by his side on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Vera (Walker) Young and nephew, Adam O’Neil.
Allan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ronelda and their loving children, Scott Young (Amanda MacDougall) and Melissa (Jaime Barreiro); five grandchildren, Avery, Marcus, Oscar, Ellis and Harper; brothers, Greg (Betty) Young, ON and Donald (Lorraine) Young, AB; in-laws, Donnie and Sheila Snow, DeeDee and David O’Neil and Marcella Price; and many nieces and nephews that he loved and who loved him.
Allan worked as a scaffolder and made many close friends in western Canada, but his home and heart were in Cape Breton. He was a craftsman inclined to build and create beautiful works. His curiosity and know-how took us on many adventures. Allan, Dad, Grumpy, Al and Big Al, as he was affectionately known, loved to wow and surprise us with surprise visits ,pirate adventures, beaches, suppers, elegant evenings, boating on the lakes, gardening, fishing, photography or culinary experiences.
He loved retirement and every moment spent in New Harris. Allan was so much to so many and he has left us many wonderful memories to cherish.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for immediate family will be held.
A cause so near and dear to Allan was the Tom MacNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund. Donations may be offered in Allan’s memory through the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation (cbrhfoundation.ca).
