Obituary of Aline Matte
Aline Matte de Vankleek Hill, est décédée paisiblement à l’Hôpital Général de Hawkesbury, le lundi 24 janvier 2022, à l’âge de 85 ans. Prédécédée par ses parents Dieudonné et Florence Poirier de Vankleek Hill ainsi que de son tendre époux , Gérald Matte et de sa sœur bien-aimée , Gisèle Baird et son neveu Scot Lynas.Mère aimante de Danielle Matte(René Choinière) et grand-mère adorée de Camille, Sacha et Julianne Choiniere. Chère sœur de Lise Lynas(Brian),Gaëtane Archibald(Greg), Évélyne Clavel(Robert) et Doris Lanthier(Emiliano Wan).
Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil sa belle-sœur Jacqueline Fraser (Stanley). Ses neveux et nièces se souviennent affectueusement d’elle.
Aline était enseignante de formation et de cœur. Elle a décidé de quitter l’enseignement pour s’impliquer dans l’entreprise familiale The Man’s Style Shop, passée de père en fils à Vankleek Hill.
Malgré le départ hâtif de son mari, Gérald, elle a bien profité de sa retraite en participant à de multiples voyages, en s’adonnant à la danse sociale, lecture et le jardinage. Elle s’impliquait activement auprès de la paroisse St Grégoire et du Club d’Âge d’Or de Vankleek Hill.
Les visites auront lieu au Hillcrest Funeral Home, 151 Bond St, Vankleek Hill, le 4 février 2022 de 12h00 à 13h45. La famille et les amis doivent prendre rendez-vous ICI pour la visite ou téléphoner au (613) 678-2002, suivie d’une messe de funérailles à 14 h à Saint-Grégoire-de-Nazianze, 137, rue Higginson, Vankleek Hill.

Aline Matte of Vankleek Hill passed away peacefully at the Hawkesbury General Hospital on Monday, January 24th, at the age of 85. Predeceased by her parents Dieudonné and Florence Poirier from Vankleek Hill. Predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald Matte, her sister,Gisele Baird and her nephew Scot Lynas. Proud and loving mother of Danielle Matte(René Choinière) and grandmother of Camille, Sacha and Julianne Choinière.Dear sister of Lise Lynas(Brian), Gaëtane Archibald(Greg), Évelyne Clavel (Robert) and Doris Lanthier( Emiliano Wan).She also leaves behind her sister in law Jacqueline Fraser(Stanley) and many loved nieces and nephews.
Aline was a teacher at heart but later transitioned into the family business The Man’s Style Shop in Vankleek Hill. She enjoyed her retirement despite the fact that her husband died in his early 60s. She was an avid traveller, reader, gardener and social dancer.She was actively involved in the Saint Grégoire Parrish and the Club d’Âge d’Or in Vankleek Hill.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the health care workers at Heritage Lodge and at the Hawkesbury General Hospital in her last days of life.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 151 Bond St, Vankleek Hill , February 4th, 2022 12:00 from to 1:45 pm. Family and Friends must schedule at time HERE for the visitation or call (613) 678-2002, followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm at Saint-Gregoire-de-Nazianze ,137 Higginson Street, Vankleek Hill.
We would ask you to respect the family’s desire that you follow COVID protocol. Masks are mandatory and physical distancing must be respected.

Interment will be held at Saint Grégoire Cemetery in the spring.
