Alice Muriel Wilson, age 94, passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Friday August 5, 2022, after a brief illness.
Alice was born in Monkton, Ontario, on December 4, 1927, daughter of the late James Wilson and Candace Wilson (Smith). Alice was predeceased by her husband James Quick, brother Craig Wilson, sister Lenore (Nori) Mills.
Alice will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Carol Quick.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Donna Wilson and Judith Lloyd (Quick).
Alice is survived by nieces Nicole (Mauricio), Candiss, Sue, Nan (Tom), Kate, Carolyn (Jay), nephews David (Raquel), John (Areta) and their families.
Alice was predeceased by her grandchildren Nathaniel and Michelle, brothers-in-law Kenneth Mills, William Langdon, Barry Lloyd, sister-in-law Jane Langdon (Quick), and nephew Christopher.
Alice grew up in Monkton. She moved away to attend Normal school in Stratford and became a kindergarten teacher, working in Goderich, Etobicoke and London, Ontario. She loved her school children and was remembered by them.
Alice raised her family in London, Ontario. She later obtained her BA from Western University.
When her husband retired, Alice lived in Bayfield, Ontario, owning and operating a store on the main street, making many friends there.
Her final years were lived in Stratford, where she had many interests, including the RWTO, the Stratford Festival, and the “Sing For The Joy Of It” choir. Alice added zest to any group she was a part of. She was active all her life, enjoying walks with her son, daughter-in-law and Nelson, her favourite dog, almost until the end.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to her doctors, the nurses and staff at Stratford Hospital, and to the nurses and staff at Cedarcroft Retirement Home for their care for Alice in her latest years.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 2- 4 p.m., in the reception centre of the funeral home.
