Alice Lucille Wilson
September 9th, 1930 – March 18th, 2022
“And he walks with me, and he talks with me…”
On March 18th, Alice Lucille Wilson (nee Cheeseworth) passed peacefully at home in Montrose, BC surrounded by her children and grandchildren. With heavy hearts and shaky voices, we helped Mom/Grandma take her final stroll through ‘the garden’. Alice was an amazing force leading our family and an asset to the community she adored for over 70 years. She loved to crochet, knit, sew, garden, and do puzzles. There wasn’t a craft she wouldn’t try and enjoyed crafting with her friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She touched so many lives in her time here on earth.
Alice was born on September 9th, 1930, to Samuel and Clara (nee Ehlert) Cheeseworth in Magrath, Alberta. She spent most of her childhood in Magrath until the family moved to the Kelowna area in the late 40’s. By a twist of fate, Alice met the love of her life, Albert Saulters Wilson, in 1947. They were married in 1949 and they moved to Trail. In 1950, the young couple moved to Montrose where they were one of a dozen or so families. There they stayed and raised their six children.
We know that she has joined her love Albert, her son Sidney, her great grandsons Harrison and Jonah, her son in law Gordon and her siblings Betty, Ken, and Doris.
She passes on to watch over her children Sandra Braithwaite, Randy (Ann) Wilson, Wendy (Don) Steep, Janice Underwood, and Gary Wilson; grandchildren Erica (Marcel) Charette, Rory (Kim) Steep, Sean (Kristine) Tyson, Ian (Larissa) Tyson, Ainsley (Jamie) Braithwaite, and Monica (Kevin) Maddison; great grandchildren Alicen (Liam), Cohan, Rayne, Elsie, Maximilien, Luke, Sullivan, Adeline, Lillian, Ronin, Heidi, and Henry; sister June and many nieces and nephews. We trust she has met the soul of her 15th great grandchild and will help to usher them earth side to us in the coming days. Her spirit lives on in all of us. Our names might not state it, but we are all Wilsons, and her legacy will live on through us.
The family would like to take this time to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Mom/Grandma while she was in hospital and to send our love and gratitude to her home nurse, Val, who went above and beyond for her.
A celebration of life and a scattering of her ashes will take place at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
