Alice’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Marie Dumont (born Paradis) announce that she peacefully passed away Sunday July 31st at her home in Girouxville.
Alice was born August 26th, 1961 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to Réal and Marie-Jeanne Paradis. She was the youngest of 6 children and was everyone’s favorite from the start. A real Mama’s girl, she’d often stop her playing just to go check on her Mom; and, if Marie-Jeanne had slipped out to the neighbors. little Alice would sit on the porch and cry for her Mom until she came home, a whole 2 mins later. The family moved from Wetaskiwin to McLennan when Alice was 10 years old. She spent the rest of her childhood and early adult years in McLennan, and became a mother to Richard in 1986 at the age of 25 years old. She and Richard moved to Edmonton when he was just a baby and she quickly got a job with maintenance enforcement for the Government of Canada. She worked almost 10 years in the city as a single Mom but no matter how challenging things were she was always there for her family when they needed her.
In 1993, she and Richard moved to Girouxville, with Danny and the kids, and, less than a year later they moved onto the farm. Alice took pride in the old farm house. She worked tirelessly at beautifully refinishing all of the original wood in the house. She and Danny worked well, as a farming team, and, if she wasn’t in the fields running a combine, she was in the garden or the kitchen getting dinners ready for the field. They worked hard but always made sure there was time to enjoy the finer things in life. She spent many memorable summers at Shaw’s Point and fishing out in Kitimat (BC). She loved being out at Hunting Camp in Whitemud in the fall and they did thousands of miles pulling the fifth wheel through the states during the winters. Winter trips to Mexico were also a favorite way to enjoy winter days, if they weren’t snowmobiling that is.
Alice loved her family deeply and you could feel it in her hug, she gave a good, hard hug and loved even harder. She had 14 nieces and nephews and was the favorite “Aunty Alice” to all of them. She was a loving, understanding and compassionate Wife, Mother, Grandmother (Meme), Daughter, Sister, Aunty and Friend. Always the life of the party, she liked to dance and have a good time no matter where she was. A truly young at heart lady who was one of a kind to all that were blessed to be loved by her.
Alice is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Danny and children (& their spouses); Richard Sutton (Krystle Brulotte), Julie Bonnamour (Bryan), Lonny Dumont (Danielle), her granddaughters (Jovee & Emberlie Sutton, Bree & Olivia Bonnamour, Della, Jayme & Elaina Dumont), as well as her siblings (& their spouses) Lise Mikulecky (Albert), Paul Paradis (Debbie), Celine Paradis, Diane Deslauriers (Richard), Doris Wylie (Ted), her mother in law Doris Dumont, sister in law Dena Slonsky (Edward) and 14 nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Real and Marie-Jean Paradis and her father in law Jean Dumont.
Friends and family are invited to attend Alice’s Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 PM, from Paroisse Notre-Dame de Lourdes Church in Girouxville.
