Alice’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alice Camille Samms age 76 years announce her passing
at the Western Palliative care unit, Corner Brook on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Camille was born on
May 13, 1946 in Ontario and married Charles Samms, whom she lovingly called “Chuck” on May 12, 1984.
She worked until retirement at the age of 65 with the Toronto Transit Commission. She also worked as a
bookkeeper for Sears and the Police Department. They retired to Chuck’s home province of Newfoundland
& Labrador in 2018 and settled in Deer Lake and she loved living in that community.She leaves to mourn her
husband, Charles (Chuck), stepson Charles Jr., stepdaughter Margaret Hall, step-grandchildren Christopher,
Katrina, Benjamin, and Rebecca, step-great-grandchildren Nora and Brace. Her sister Dranel (Harold) Wood,
sisters-in-law, Bobbie Luxton, Mary (Jack) Legge and Hope (Bob) Allen. Brother-in-law Calvin (Patsy) Samms.
Plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was predeceased by her parents, Bert
& Orissa Luxton, parents-in-law Thomas & Lillian Samms, brother Ricardo (Rick) Luxton, step-daughter Sarah
Samms, sisters-in-law; Georgina (Frank) Yates, Beryl (Harris) King and Eleanor (Joe) King. Brother-in-law Lewis
(Joyce) Samms.The memorial service will be conducted on Monday, June 20th, 2022 at 2 pm at Emmanuel
Pentecostal Church, Bennett Drive, Deer Lake with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating.
Donations in her memory may be given to the Western Health Foundation – Palliative Care Unit.
