Alfred Gordon Glaze 1952 2022

Obituary of Alfred Gordon Glaze
Gordon Glaze, age 69, of Merrickville, ON, passed away peacefully Monday, January 10, 2022 with his loving wife, Cathy, at his side. Gord was a caring step-parent to Cameron Wilson and cherished son of Doreen Glaze-Stiles. He is survived by his eldest sister, Donna Mason, nieces Kim, Kristine and Jennifer, nephews David and Mike; great nieces Sydney and Shealyn, great nephews Mac, Jake, Nick, Darcy, Liam and Brayden; brother-in-law Phil Shepherd (Arja). Predeceased by his father Stanley Glaze, sister Elaine Shepherd, step-father George Stiles and brother-in-law, Ron Mason. He leaves behind mother-in-law, Eileen Ivory, Bill Ivory and family; and, life-long friend Dave Hill.
Gord was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He lived memorable years in Vancouver, BC, Carleton Place, ON and Barbados. He travelled Europe and Africa, returning with a greater appreciation and love for Canada. He relaxed camping with friends down old logging roads in BC, watching eagles soar overhead. He loved scuba diving and exploring sunken ships off the coast of Barbados. He spent many hours on his catamaran on Mississippi Lake, Carleton Place. These last 17 years he embraced the sweet times in Merrickville, ON.
Gord was a kind, curious, creative, gentle person who welcomed everyone. Ever the eternal optimist, he lived life to the fullest. He was happiest when he could cook and entertain friends and family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you to all the staff at St Lawrence Lodge, especially for the care he received on third floor.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville or Epilepsy Ontario in his memory.
