Jansen, Alfons Maria Petrus
Peacefully, on Wednesday January 19, 2022 Alfons Maria Petrus Jansen passed away at the amazing and wonderful age of 100. Beloved husband of the late Lucia Jansen (Van Gorp) of 69 devoted years. Loving father of Lou (Mary) Jansen, Jenny (John) Huybers, John (Erna) Jansen, Josie (John) Bergsma, Marg (Pete) DeGroot, Pete (Jenny) Jansen and Jim (Tracey) Jansen. Cherished Opa loved by 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Predeceased by siblings Sjef (Toos) Jansen, Jo (Jan) Hendrickx and Jan (Nieka) Jansen. Dear brother-in-law of the late Adrian (Pieta) Van Gorp, Pete (Petra) Van Gorp, Sien (Chris) Van Loon, Cornelia Van Gorp, Net (Gerard) De Vet and Jan Van Gorp. Survived by Riet Van Gorp and Wil (Riet) Van Gorp of the Netherlands.
Dad was born on June 5, 1921 in Alphen, NB, Netherlands. He married the love of his life Lucia on April 14, 1948. With a young family of 3, they immigrated to Canada on March 28, 1953 and later blessed with 4 more children. Farming was his livelihood and his passion. Alfons and Lucia retired in Strathroy in August 1989. Dad enjoyed travelling, dancing, bowling, playing pool and golfing. Playing cards was his favourite past time – him winning was inevitable! Making Dutch soup was his specialty. Dad was fortunate to live in his own home till his final day.
Family and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place on January 29th, 2022 at All Saints Roman Catholic Church with an interment to follow at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Strathroy Middle General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
