Obituary
Aleyamma Jacobs was born and raised in Kerala, India in 1939. At a young age, she traveled to Germany to obtain an education and training in the field of nursing.
Aleyamma lived in Germany for fifteen years, eventually getting married and having her first child there. The family then immigrated to Canada in pursuit of further opportunities. Aleyamma enjoyed a long career at Dr. Vernon Fanning Center in Calgary, where she worked for 35 years before retiring in 2012.
She was very active in her prayer group and an enthusiastic parishioner at St. Thomas More Parish and later at St. Mother Teresa Syro Malabar Catholic Church. Aleyamma enjoyed volunteering and serving the community. She was incredibly hospitable and possessed a passion for cooking as she loved to make meals for friends and family. She always opened her home to welcome people, greeting them with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a grateful heart.
Aleyamma was a fiercely loyal person who valued family above all else. She made friends everywhere she went and made sure to keep in touch over the years. Those who knew and cared for her in her declining years enjoyed her kindness and gracious manner. She left us on January 25, 2022.
She will be remembered with great love by her daughters Mary and Nancy; her sons-in-law Timothy and Philip; her beloved grandchildren Maya and Luka; as well as cherished siblings, nieces, and nephews around the world.
A prayer service and viewing will take place at St. Mother Teresa Syro Malabar Catholic Church, on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. MST, livestreaming* will be available for those unable to attend through the link below.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mother Teresa Syro Malabar Catholic Church, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. MST. Livestreaming* will be available through the link below. Due to Covid restrictions, you are requested to attend the funeral virtually.
During her final months, Aleyamma was lovingly cared for by the outstanding and compassionate care team at Cambridge Manor Nursing Home in Calgary.
