Obituary of Alexander Nicholas Janke
Alexander Nicholas Janke passed away April 12, 2022 at the age of 29 after a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour his passion for food by preparing great meals to be enjoyed with family and friends.
Alexander is survived by his parents Mark and Michelle, sister Avrya Lucas (Aidan), newborn niece Sutton Grace Lucas, grandparents Paul and Sharon Kreller, aunts and uncles Paul Janke (Elizabeth), Susan Janke (Jeff Ford), Brad Kreller (Jennifer) and cousins Stefan, Dana, Zackery and Mason.
Alexander’s passion for all things culinary began in high school and continued with his formal training at Niagara College. After graduating, Alexander worked at several different restaurants until finding his home at Gilt Restaurant. Gilt became a second family for Alexander especially his collaboration with Steph on menu creation and preparation. Steph, Trella and Kristi will always be an important part of our family.
We would like to thank all our family, friends, and the extended medical teams for their support and loving care provided to Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation through the Sunnybrook Foundation to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.
Visitation will be at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private celebration of life will follow at a later date. Condolences for the family and memorial donations may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Alexander
