February 17, 1962 – August 11, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alexander Irvine. Alex was born in Bracebridge, Ontario and moved to the Kootenay’s in 1977 with our family.
As a teen he worked at Cominco then moved to Port Hardy where he worked at Western Pulp in Port Alice for many years. He moved back to the Kootenay’s where he lived the rest of his life. Since he was a young boy his favorite hobby was building military models, painting them with intricate detail. He loved going to Syringa for a dip. No matter how cold the water was he was always the first one in.
Always willing to help out the family he watched his great nephew Ryland at three months old until his passing when Ryland was eleven. Quiet, stoic and a man of few words he always had time to listen and give gentle advice from the heart. With a dry sense of humor he made us laugh.
Alex was predeceased by his father Ronald Irvine, mother Ellen Weldon and brother-in-law Ken Langille. He leaves to remember sisters Kristine and Mary, brother Earl (Tami), nephew Ron (Cheryl), nieces Syrina (Dan) and Katrina (Justin), great-nephews Damon, Jaxon, Ryland, Finnley and Timber, and great-nieces Danica and Fallon. Alex will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
