Obituary
Alex Hyshka, of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the age of 87 years.
He was the youngest of seven children, born on December 7, 1934, to Peter and Mary Hyshka in Gilbert Plains, MB.
As a young man he worked with his family on the farm in the Ashville area. It wasn’t long before his love of farming allowed him to venture off and cultivate his own land in the RM of Gilbert Plains. He remained farming till he retired and moved to Dauphin. His retirement didn’t last long as he was always one to keep busy. He worked for the Department of Highways receiving both an award for Safety as well as 10 years of Service.
Deciding he was finally ready to retire (for real this time) it was time to travel! His love of travelling took him to faraway places such as; Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica and then places closer to home: Yukon, North West Territories, Dawson Creek, Grand Prairie, St. Albert and Calgary.
He was a man of many passions. In addition to travelling he loved playing cards, took pride in his garden and especially loved watching the birds, making sure his bird feeders were always well stocked.
One of the many things he will be remembered for was his great sense of humour, always the first to crack a joke. He could find humour in any situation.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Leona (nee Savisky), children Rhonda (Jeff), Troy (Charlene), Derrick (Karen), Shannon (Noel).
Grandchildren Joseph, Melissa, Teegan, Jordann, Kennedi, Darius, Dryden, Jessica, Nolan, Shayla and Jade; his Great Grandchildren Jase, Jada-Lynn, and Zayla
His Nephews and Niece Terry, Brad, Mitch, Darcy, Billy, Lillian and Gary
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Hyshka, siblings Mike, Nick, Olga, Bill, Ann & Johnny.
In keeping with Alex’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to a Celebration of Life being held at his home Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 1 – 3pm.
