Alberta “Bertie” Pauline Cooke
1926-2022
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the
passing of Alberta Pauline Cooke, wife of Carson Cooke, L’Etang, which
occurred on August 9, 2022 at the Fundy Nursing Home. Born on
September 9, 1926, she was the second youngest and the last surviving
member of the twelve children born to Robert and Ethel (Seamans) Parks
of St. George, NB.
Bertie, as she was called, was an active member in her
church, St. Mark’s Anglican for over 75 years. She was a woman of
strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Christ’s love,
the beauty and peace that would be hers following her passing. She was
a member of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association for many years
and enjoyed the meetings and the socialization.
She loved nothing more than the time she spent entertaining
her family and friends. She particularly loved it when her home was
filled with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren . She was a
wonderful cook and her love for her family and friends was
demonstrated through the countless meals and desserts she made for
them, always keeping in mind the favorites’ of each person
visiting.
Bertie was also a member of a quilting circle. The quilts she
gifted to her family members will be forever treasured as heirlooms
from her. She enjoyed music, and could be found listening and singing
along to gospel or Engelbert Humperdinck, which were her
favourites.
Bertie is survived by her husband: Carson, in their 79th year
of marriage; sons: Terrance (Elaine) Cooke of Miramichi NB, Conrad
(Sheila) Cooke of St. George NB, Roger (Edna) Cooke of Halifax NS, and
Timothy Cooke of L’Etang NB; grandchildren: Sharon Cooke of Quispamsis
NB, Stephen (Lissa) Cooke of Miramichi NB, Andrew (Erin) Cooke of
Grand Bay NB, Adam (Jennifer) Cooke of Chase BC, Bradley Cooke of St.
Stephen NB, Heather (Matt) Grossnickle of Cobble Hill BC, David
(Nikita) Cooke of Sidney BC and Ian Cooke of Ottawa ON;
great-grandchildren: Christopher Cooke of Moncton NB, Alex and Griffin
Cooke of St. George NB, Aidan Cooke of Saint John NB and Owen Cooke of
Chase BC.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son,
Dawson Cooke; brothers: Robert, Douglas, Raymond, Hugh, Tilley and
Hazen; sisters: Rose, Sarah, Ethel, Lila and Lillian and all their
spouses.
