Alan Clayton Porter
1948-2022
Even though we sorrow not as those who have no hope, the
family of Alan Clayton Porter will miss him deeply. Alan finished his
course on earth on March 13, 2022, and entered his heavenly home with
his Savior, not because of any merit of his own, but because he
accepted God’s free gift of salvation as a young
boy.
Alan began his life on March 9, 1948, in Meductic, NB, and
moved to Woodstock as a young boy. He attended NBBI, Teachers College,
and Pensacola Christian College in order to prepare him for his future
ministries. For most of his life, Alan, along with his bride
Elizabeth, served in various Christian schools and churches throughout
New Hampshire, Maine, Nova Scotia, Ontario and New Brunswick. Al was a
people person, using his loud guffaw and mischievous grin to inspire
warmth and camaraderie to those around him. He was very involved in
his community, not only through the church and AWANA programs, but
also in coaching sports teams and being a fire department
chaplain. Alan loved being a pastor, continuing to pastor Belleville
Baptist Church during his
“retirement.”
Alan leaves behind his wife Elizabeth (Bredin) of almost 50
years, his children, Alicia Porter of Mansfield, OH, Alan Paul (Sara)
Porter and their children, Mackenzie, Madelyn and Maisie of Cape Cod,
MA, Andrea (Ben) Fowler and their children, Georgia and Tanner of
Bangor, ME, Audrey (Frank) Norman and their children, Malik,
Sean and Elijah of Dayton, TN, and Alana (Ryan) Smith and their
children, Bredin, Porter and Jubilee of Seoul, South Korea. Siblings:
Paula (Don) Brown, Myrna Smith, Lona (Ed) Piamonte, and Peter (Giryl)
Porter. He was preceded to heaven by his older brother Steven and his
parents, Paul and Thelma.
Visitation will be held at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High
Street, Hartland on Thursday, March 17th from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral
will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday the 18th at the Belleville Baptist
Church with Rev. Bob Dunlop officiating. The interment will be in the
People’s Church Cemetery at a later date in May. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belleville Baptist
Church or New Brunswick Bible Institute. www.brittonfh.ca
