It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Agata Lucato. Born in Ospedellato, Treviso, Italia, on July 14, 1936, Agata was the youngest of a large family. Living through World War II, she led a life of gratitude and appreciation for the joys that come from family, church, and community. In 1961, Agata married Sergio Lucato and soon after emigrated to Canada. Agata and Sergio settled in Ocean Falls, BC, where Sergio worked in the mill. Accessible only by boat or sea plane, Ocean Falls was very different from Italy, but there Agata found a Canadian family where life-long friendships were born, along with her first three children, Celestina, Sandro and Anna Maria. When the mill in Ocean Falls closed, the family moved to Powell River, BC, where their fourth child, David was born. In Powell River Agata continued many friendships from Ocean Falls and made many new ones. She was active in her church, Church of the Assumption, and she was a valued member of the church choir. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang not only at church, but whenever the opportunity arose, most often while in her kitchen cooking up wonderful dishes for her family! Agata was well known in the community for her market stall at the Powell River Farmers Market. For many years she and Sergio had a stall there, and she was known for her beautiful flower arrangements and home baking creations. Agata was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren who were the loves of her life. Stephen & Matthew (Sandro & Susan) and Avery, Daniella & Xavier (David & Cindy). She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love for her family, friends, and community.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”
May you now go in peace to be reunited in heaven with those who went before you, knowing you will always be loved.
Ti Vogliamo Bene Mama.
The family would like to the thank the staff of the Evergreen Extended Care and Willingdon Creekside Village for their generous care of Agata over the last few years.
