Adolf Martens Friday February 25th 2022

Martens, Adolf
Adolf Martens passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the age of 86.
Beloved husband of Edith. Dear father of Thomas (Annemarie) and Birgit (Michael). Cherished Opa of Krista, Stephen, and Matthew. Adolf will also be greatly missed by other relatives, many friends, and his faithful dog Toby.
Adolf was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated with his wife to Canada in 1961. He started in the meat business as a butcher and worked his way up to becoming a partner at Brandt Meats.
He loved spending time at the family cottage in Port Severn, and relaxing at his vacation home in Naples, Florida.
Adolf was a big Hamburg HSV soccer fan and loved watching Formula One races especially when Michael Schumacher was behind the wheel. He was master at the grill and enjoyed barbequing for family and friends.
Everybody who met Adolf thought he was a gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour and a generous heart. He was fortunate to have celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary with his beloved wife shortly before he passed away.
He will be greatly missed. “Du wirst immer in unseren Herzen bleiben.”
Funeral Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Adolf in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
