Adelaide Krewusik 2022

Obituary for
Adelaide Krewusik
August 11, 1933 – July 17, 2022
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Adelaide Krewusik on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the age of 88 years.
Adelaide was born in 1933 in Innisfree, Alberta. She married John Krewusik in 1953 and they had four children.
Adelaide is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lennox; son, Terry (Paulette) Krewusik; grandchildren, Johnathan (Laura) Lennox, Aubree Krewusik and Nolan Krewusik; great-grandson, Quentin Lennox; brothers, John (Ann) Kachmar and Eugene (Mavis) Kachmar. Stan Lennox and Anita Krewusik will also remember her as their mother-in-law.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Anna; husband, John; son, Stephen and daughter, Sylvia.
While she was very busy raising four children, she became involved and was a founding member in the St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church Ladies Auxiliary. This is where she developed many talents such as Easter egg writing, needlework/petit point, costume making, playing mandolin, singing in the choir, baking Ukrainian bread and traditional cooking. She enjoyed teaching and sharing her skills with others.
Another passion of Adelaide’s was gardening and flowers. Spring was her favorite time of year and she loved touring local greenhouses. She enjoyed many summers growing and harvesting her garden, canning many items to have the fruit cellar stocked for winter. She especially loved growing dahlias every summer and was very proud of all the varieties she grew. She also took her prized dahlias to events in Red Deer to bring home some winning ribbons. She looked forward to picking mushrooms each year, both morels and red tops, as well as picking cranberries, shredding cabbage and pickling sour leaves for cabbage rolls.
She also loved traveling on Caribbean cruise ships and all over Mexico for many years with church and family friends or just with her husband, John, meeting many new friends on their trips. In the later years when their mobility started to struggle, Terry would look after them for 2-week trips each year to ensure they still enjoyed themselves and got home safely.
Ukrainian and Country music also brought her great enjoyment. She would never miss the Ukrainian hour on radio every Sunday night and also enjoyed attending some live shows at the Ukrainian village.
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and care workers at Unit 43, Grey Nuns Community Hospital; and Silver Birch Haven for their kindness and care, we will be forever grateful.
A private family only service will be held.
