Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Aaron Gallant of Stephenville announce his passing surrounded by his family on June 14th, 2022, at the age of 94 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his 8 children: Fr. A.J. of Lexington, NC, Abe (Judy), Paul (Faith), Tom (Mary), Bill, David, Susan (John Butler), and Kevin (Sandy); his 12 grandchildren: Roger, Stuart (Anna O’Quinn), Tina (Beth Newton), James (Colleen), Mark (Monica), Halifax, N.S., Michael (Emily Thomas), Halifax, N.S., Carling Pike, Emma and William Butler, Sarah, Megan and Katie Gallant; and his 6 great grandchildren: Connor and Henry Newton, Anna, Grace, Jane and Oliver Gallant.
He will be dearly missed by: his sister Edna Gallant, of Albuquerque, NM; his sister in law Eva McCarthy (Kevin) and his brother in law Joe Hayes, both of Corner Brook; and his ever thoughtful caregiver Debbie Benoit.
He was predeceased by: his parents Arsene Victor (A.V.) and Sarah; his first wife Helen and infant son Joseph; daughter Sarah; his wife Bernice; his brother Thomas; and his sisters: Connie Brake, Claudia Cavendish, Eva Eaton and Laverna Baker.
In addition to being a successful businessman, Aaron enjoyed many activities including farming, fishing, hunting and bowling. He was one of Stephenville’s first volunteer firemen and often recalled attending some of Stephenville’s early fires including the St. Stephen’s Church fire of 1969.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass to celebrate Aaron’s life will be held at a St. Stephen’s Parish on Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Aaron’s memory can be made to the Southwest Coast SPCA or the Stephenville Community Food Bank.
The Gallant family would like to thank the medical professionals who assisted Aaron in his last week including Dr. Parai and Nurse Kerry Pittman from Western Memorial Regional Hospital as your compassion during this time did not go unnoticed.
Though we know our memories of Aaron will live on, his daily presence in the lives of his children will forever be missed.
