A. Jean Smith – 96, Salmon River, Colchester County,
passed away peacefully, with loving family at her side, on Saturday,
March 5, 2022, at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Truro, she
was the daughter of the late Carl and Lydia (Weatherbee)
Lynds.
She lived most of her life on Harmony Road in Salmon River
where she enjoyed skating at Deuville’s Rink, gardening and crafting.
She loved the Hawaiian steel guitar music that her husband, Roy had
taught for 35 years. She could be found at her cottage in Shady Nook
most every day during the summer, either swimming or basking in the
sun. She was a proud member of First Baptist Church in Truro and
belonged to “Group One”! East Cumberland Lodge became her
family for 17 years; she loved everyone there and especially the food!
She was a lady of few words but didn’t miss a thing! She will be sadly
missed by all.
Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa (Lionel) Lewis,
Bass River; grandchildren, Lindsay (Colin) Behrens, Stewiacke; Laura
Lewis, Kelowna, British Columbia; Lance Lewis, Bass River; great
grandchildren, Chance Lewis, Lloyd Behrens, Levi Behrens; they were
the apple of her eye! She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Roy; brother, Howard Lynds and his
wife, Evelyn “Boonie”.
Celebration of life and interment in Watson Cemetery, Salmon
River, will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in
Jean’s memory to Bass River Medical Society, East Cumberland Lodge or
charity of choice are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner
