Stanton “Wayne” Jenkins
Jenkins, Stanton “Wayne” – It is with grieving hearts we announce the passing of Wayne Jenkins, age 72, on April 9, 2022 at his Folly Lake home while surrounded by his loving family.
Leaving behind his faithful, loving wife of 52 years, Donna (Pyke) Jenkins; son, Jason (Karen) Jenkins; daughters, Tamara Campbell, Amanda (Jason) McAskill, Shannon (Brad) Cooley; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Stanton Jenkins and Evelyn (Drake) Jenkins–Pulsifer. He was predeceased by his stepfather, George Pulsifer; sister, Carol Parks; two nephews; and a niece.
He is also survived by his two sisters, Sharon Lynds and Paula Matheson (Vernon).
Wayne was known in many different ways and each very important to him. To some, he was a leader, a mentor, a great friend and to others, a “loving husband,” “Dad” or “Pop”.
Growing up, he loved his mother’s delicious duck dinners as well as being the only brother to his sisters. He loved his country music, cowboy boots, red pickup trucks, German Shepherds, dancing and themed parties.
Wayne grew up in Bible Hill where he owned his first home on Pictou Road. He and Donna then raised their family in Salmon River but, his favorite place was the cottage in Folly Lake. In 1990, he turned it into their dream home where he enjoyed four-wheeling, being surrounded by friends and was always ready to barbecue. He loved when family visited as well as spoiling his grandchildren. He took great pride in the unique bond he had with each grandchild.
Wayne always had a witty comment to add to the conversation. Just when you thought he wasn’t listening, you were going to get an opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not. His intentions always were the best at heart and he would go out of his way for family or friends, asking nothing in return.
Wayne also loved to travel with Donna, where they shared special moments with friends and family. They enjoyed the entertainment, food and dancing wherever they were. His respect and love for Donna throughout the years made everyday feel special. Her highlights were often seeing what Wayne’s adventure of the day would be. It’s hard to believe how quick life can pass by and the impact that one individual can make on so many. He will be missed by all.
In the 1960s, Wayne began working in the transport industry, hauling potatoes from P.E.I. for his father’s trucking business, Jenkins’ Produce. In the late 1970s, Wayne met Doug Moffatt and drove for Moffatt Brothers. Doug took Wayne under his wing. Wayne went from driving, to in the office dispatching trucks, to eventually climbing up to management. Wayne contributed his strong work ethic and knowledge. In many ways, he was instrumental over the years to the success of many individuals and companies. During his career, he definitely helped pave the way to what the current Atlantic Canadian Flatbed Market is today.
In 2003, Wayne fulfilled his dream by starting his own business, “Premium Ventures Inc.”, where he worked with strength and determination to build a successful company. Wayne lived with the belief, “there’s no strangers here, only friends you haven’t met yet”. Having sold the established company, his legacy is still traveling the highways today.
