It is with heavy hearts we, the family of Cedric Edwin Jones, regret to announce his passing on Monday, April 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born November 14, 1933, he was the son of the late John “Jack” and Pearl Jones and stepfather, the late Jesse Jones.
Cedric was born in South Bar and grew up in Whitney Pier. After high school, he took a carpentry course in North Sydney and worked as a millwright at Co-op Building Supplies, then as foreman for Reeves Modular Homes and later, a self-employed contractor.
Cedric is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor (Powell); daughters, Kelley (Lindsay) Morris, Howie Centre and Heather Jones, Sydney; sons, Gary (Joan), Westmount and Kenny (Charlene), Westmount; grandchildren, David Jones (Cassie King), Ashley Morris (Jeff Hawkins) and Tyler Jones; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Abigail; and sister, Isabel Forget, Whitney Pier.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Phyllis and Myrtle and brothers, Donald, Ernest and Melvin.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 14 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment will take place in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier.
The family would like to thank the nurses of VON and the doctors and nurses of Palliative Care.
