Obituary
A Beautiful Life…
The Fabric of ours…
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Edith Ivanicki of Vernon, B.C. passed away peacefully and with much grace, at the age of 94 years, surrounded by loving family in Revelstoke, B.C. She was welcomed as Edith Elizabeth Walker, born at home in an historic log cabin. She was the 4th child of Wilbert and Ethel Walker of Stayner, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents and five of her siblings, Allen Walker, Hazel Rawn Bellamy, Harry Walker, Winnie Walker and Verona Redman. In her formative years she was called Eady. She is survived by one brother Jim Walker of Barrie. Edith was predeceased by her first husband Perry Bowins in 1970 and second husband Emil Ivanicki in 2010. She was also predeceased by one daughter Ruth Stewart in 2018, and one grandson Neil Martin in 2011. Survived by her children Bob (Allison), Dianne (Ed), Don (Sandi). Grandchildren, Llane, Kitson, Patrick, Eivor, Allison, Donald, Joel, Simon, Ryan and Stephanie. She was blessed with many great grandchildren: Corbin, Lucy, Kaleb, Jude, Nolan, Perry, Ruby, Ginger, Hazel, Lavender, and Winter. She remembered every one of their birthdays, often with hand drawn cards. She left many Nieces and Nephews who also share endearing memories of Aunt Edith.
Patient and accepting of all, she had a long and wonderful life. A long life which she gratefully acknowledged, allowing her to so gracefully accept her own passing. She was a humble and eternally positive person, and so good humoured that everyone felt the ease of unconditional love. She lived by positive Walker example, never raising her voice or scolding.
People knew Edith for her compassion, her strong Mormon faith and her ever reaching love of children. She was loved and respected by her family, her church family, and many friends. What are some words her family used to describe her: adored and cherished, selfless, inspiring, supportive and encouraging, strong, stoic, graceful, accepting, and of strong faith. Quite simply she was adored by everyone whose life she touched, always freely giving of her time. Her passions were many, gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing for others into her last years. Christmas was handmade for all. She was happiest surrounded by little ones, whether her family, or those from the nursery classes whom she help care for at church into her 90th year. After her own children were grown, Edith and Emile fostered many children, sharing the abundance of their home and heart. She would never turn down an adventure, most precious being the family gatherings that were filled with laughter, joy, games, scrabble and puzzles. She is ready for a good rest, she will be planted beside her beloved Perry for eternity. We are so grateful to the staff, nurses, Dr. Unger and Dr. MacDonald for the incredible care they provided for mom, the bubble bath especially. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. (local time) in Stayner, Ontario. It will be live streamed and the link will be available on the funeral home website.
