Irene was born on May 23, 1931, in Park Siding, BC and passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 3, 2022, in Trail, BC.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald McDonald, oldest son Ronald McDonald, and son-in-law David Bruce.
Irene is survived by children Bob McDonald, Shirley Bruce, Donna (John) Barr, Karen (Charlie) Fontaine and Gary (Maria) McDonald as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irene grew up in Park Siding and Nelson areas. She married Donald McDonald in 1955 and they settled in Sunningdale where they raised their six children. Irene enjoyed her work at legal offices in Trail. In her later years she worked in various mining project offices and spent time in Edmonton and Barriere before retiring.
Irene enjoyed keeping busy gardening and working on her many sewing, knitting, and crocheting projects. She loved spending time with family and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had baking for family and friends.
As per Irene’s wishes, a funeral service will not be held. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ in Trail has been entrusted with the arrangements.
She will be fondly remembered at many family gatherings.

Irene is now “Gardening in Heaven”.
