Johannes Hans Weidenfeld April 05 1935 April 06 2022

Johannes “Hans”‘s Obituary
Weidenfeld, Johannes “Hans” – Age 87 of Woodvale has left us to meet his Savior leaving his wife, Annette with a broken heart on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Dueren, Germany on April 5, 1935 he was a son of the late Johannes Ross and Sofie (Iven) Lott.
Hans went to work when he was 10 years old and did not stop until his early 70’s. He was a very active man having worked 58 years in the hospitality industry: Banff Springs Hotel, Digby Pines, Old Orchard Inn, Chateau Laurier, Montreal International Airport Hilton and 11 years in Germany.
In his spare time, he was an avid hunter, woodsman and gardener. He had a great love for animals.
He had a deep faith and was very giving to his community and in the church as lector and eucharistic minister; active in the Cursillo movement for many years, past treasurer of the Salmon River Fire Department for 12 years; member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree in Yarmouth and also a member of the Knights of Columbus choir whose members he considered as part of his family.
Hans certainly missed not being able to bring smiles on the faces of the young and old during Christmas Season after 27 years of being Santa or by working in the soup kitchen with his brother Knights. He was a person of enormous faith and courage, someone truly special in this world, a rare and beautiful gift to all of us and we are blessed forever.
Hans is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annette, Woodvale; children, who were his pride & joy and whom he loved dearly, Wolfgang “Morris” (Lori) and Hans Kenneth, both of BC; Jessica, Glen Margaret; brother, Helmut (Mai-Britt), Germany; sister-in-law, Maria, Germany; grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Creelman, Harley Weidenfeld, Dustin, Travis and Amber Weidenfeld; great-grandson, Kole that he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by a brother, Herman Joseph.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home where public visitations will be held on Friday, April 8th from 7-9:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday in Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth at 11 am with Father Wieslaw Papuga officiating assisted by Father Mathieu Agbaya. Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Salmon River.
The family wished to say thank you to all those who helped Hans through the last part of his journey on earth, especially the doctors, nurses who were so kind, those who visited and called. God bless you all.
Donations in memory of Hans may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery Fund, Salmon River, Stella Maris Church, Meteghan, or to a charity of your choice.
