Obituary
We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Heinz Hieber at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his devoted wife Trudy, children Donald, Gloria (Al), and Angela (Russ), grandchildren Joël (Samantha), Rémi (Joel), Hunter (Kate), McConnell (Meagan), and Carly as well as great grandchildren Gabriel and Sabine.
Heinz was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada as a young man. He met his wife Trudy in Northern BC where he worked his trade as a steamfitter on a variety of construction sites and was a proud member of Local 170.
Upon retiring he and Trudy moved to the Okanagan and enjoyed travelling to many destinations throughout BC, Canada, and overseas.
Heinz was an avid reader, gardener, and storyteller. He was a supportive father and devoted husband.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care provided by Village at Smith Creek staff during his four year stay at the facility. We appreciate the gentle touches, warm smiles, watchful eyes, helping hands, and encouraging words he received during his challenges with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was well liked by staff because of his wide grin, infectious chuckle, and chatty nature.
He will be fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in Heinz’s memory: Donate in memory and in honour | Alzheimer Society of British Columbia .

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Heinz Otto Hieber July 16 1933 March 31 2022 (age 88)..
