Obituary of Shirley Mae Bennett
Shirley Mae Bennett (nee Brown)
Of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory
Passed away in the early hours of April 2, 2022, at the John M Parrot Centre for the Aged in Napanee, Ontario, at the age of 85. Shirley spent many years working as a Health Care Aide for the Red Cross, a career choice that suited her caregiving personality. She enjoyed thrift stores, attending the annual Tyendinaga Pow Wow, and having outings with family and friends. She travelled from coast to coast, visiting family in Prince Edward Island and celebrating her 80th birthday attending High Tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. She was an avid reader and stayed on top of current events, particularly politics. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children Linda (Paul) of Picton, Laura (Todd) of Charlottetown, Kim (Roger) of Deseronto, and predeceased by her son George William (Lisa). Loving grandmother to Michael, Beth, John, Barry, Dale, Joe, Daniel, Tammy, and Tyler. Great grandmother to Porter, Maguire, Elodie, Sayge, Lux and Shea.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the John Parrot centre for their commitment and dedication to provide our mother with the care she required.
A memorial service will be held on Friday April 8, 2022, at 1:00pm at All Saints Anglican Church, 1295 Ridge Road, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
For Mom: Until we meet again “May you walk in beauty”.
