Obituary of John Douglas Tait
S/Sgt John Douglas Tait
RCMP, Retired
23579 – 1964 to 1996
Served in Newfoundland, Hamilton, Toronto and Niagara
Peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2022, in his 80th year. Beloved partner of Carol Syred for 17 years. Fondly remembered by his grandson, Jackson Tait and Jackson’s mother, Gina Simon, Kerry Ohana (Itzik), Lindsey Syred and their children Tal, Judah, Finley and Uma. Predeceased by his parents Douglas and Margaret Tait, his infant sister Lynn, and his son Sean. Survived by his brother Doug Tait and family. Remembered by Sean’s mother Marion Biasutti and the MacDonald family.
As a child, John enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Lake Erie with his family. He also had many happy memories from living at Sleepy Hollow, where he watched his son Sean grow up.
He was a proud member of the RCMP for 32 years and an active member of the Vet’s Association.
John valued the serenity, friends and neighbours that their new home in Sheldon’s Landing, provided them. His warm smile, gentle hugs and quiet sense of humor will be missed.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no service, cremation has taken place and interment will be at The RCMP National Memorial Cemetery (Beechwood). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home. Online condolences available at www.lannin.ca
‘I hope you’re alright
From here to there
As beautiful as you are.
May you dream in the heavens
As you sleep through the night.
I’ll send a prayer.’ (Chip Taylor)
