Marcelle Gervais 2022

Marcelle Gervais (née Picard) was born on February 14, 1925 to Honoré and Olive Picard of Kapuskasing. Marcelle married Peter Gervais, in Sudbury, in 1946 and had seven children. She passed away peacefully at the age of 97, on Monday, March 28, 2022 surrounded by her children. Marcelle was a dedicated Mother to Suzanne (Heinz) Timmers, Linda (Robert) Beauchamp, Paul (Silvie) Gervais, Sandra (Michael) Barrett of London; Joan (Barry) O’Reilly of Ottawa; Robert Gervais, Barbara (Richard) LaBelle, and a wonderful grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Marcelle was preceded by the love of her life Peter Vincent Gervais of 63 years of marriage and by her five sisters Beatrice Martin, Simone Cooper, Theresa Garrow, Rita Labine, Frances Shayer and six brothers Arthur, John-Paul, Remi, Albert, Rolland, and Lucien Picard. Marcelle was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of Holy Redeemer Parish and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Marcelle and Peter spent their retired days as winter Texans, playing cards, dancing, shopping and making new friends from all over the world. They enjoyed their summers at the cottage on Deer Lake fishing, swimming, and entertaining our friends and family. The family gives special thanks to the dedicated caregivers at Pioneer Manor who cared for our mother with devotion and kindness for the past 11 years. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St-Andrew the Apostle Church, Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. Donations can be made (by cheque or online) to the Alzheimer Society. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
