James Philip “Jimmy” McCarthy
1955-2022
Peacefully, on March 30, at his home in St Theresa,
PEI, James Philip McCarthy left this world for
what he believed was a better place. He was in his 67th year. Jimmy
will be deeply missed by his son, Jamie and his granddaughter, Katie.
He will be lovingly remembered by his grandsons, Duncan
& Alex McKinnon, daughter-in-law, Tammy and his
wife, Leona. Also left to mourn are his siblings:
Annamae Benoit(Benny), Lena Moore(Ray, deceased), Doreen Knox(Pete),
Jean Mitchell(Roger), Leo(Shirley, deceased), Mary Shea(Jimmy,
deceased), Gloria Chandler(Jack, deceased), Eileen Trainor(Alan),
Susan Kelly(Jerry), Joseph and brother-in-law, David Trainor. Jimmy
leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He loved
to play pranks on them, tell them wild stories, and keep
them laughing.
Jimmy is also survived by his mother in
law, Mary McGuirk and many in-laws including his goddaughter/niece,
Corinne and his “awesome” niece, Chelsea. Jimmy
was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Bertha(The Missus); Sister,
Donna Trainor, his nephews: Irwin Mitchell, Junior Moore(who worked
with him in the flooring installation trade for many years), Josh van
Diepen, by his nieces: Crystal Trainor, Dr Ashlee Grace McGuirk. He
was also predeceased by his beloved grand niece, Monica
Smith. During his time in the QEH, he told us many times
that he could never get better care anywhere else in the world. He
really wanted to go back to his home and because of Donna Lee and her
heartfelt care, he was able to do this. He also received excellent
pastoral care from Fr. Danny Wilson To the crew at Tim
Hortons, keep telling stories and keep laughing.
Funeral
Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. from
St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Theresa with interment to
follow in the church cemetery.
